PALACIO DE SAN TELMO

TOUR MONUMENTAL

Stop at Universidad

Work on this striking and impressive building began in the 17th century. It was originally under the charge of the Sea Merchants’ Association and used to educate young orphan children to become sailors. An enormous Baroque building, the northern façade is decorated with the famous “Gallery of Illustrious Sevillians”. At present, it is the seat of the Presidency of the Regional Government of Andalusia, after having been the home to several schools and universities.

Did you know? Gustavo Adolfo Becquer entered this nautical institution to study in 1846.
